   OUR MINISTRIES

“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.” - Matthew 25:35-36

Homelessness in Pottstown

Trinity is one of the host sites for the rotating homeless shelter run through Ministries at Main Street. We are reaching out to school and community groups to help us provide the meals and shelter. There are many ways you can help.

Hunger in Pottstown

Since 1982, Trinity has provided nutritious free meals to between 60 and 100 homeless and low-income people. In recent years, the program has spread to other area congregations. Together, Pottstown churches provide three lunches and two dinners each week, including Tuesday dinners served every week at Trinity.

Youth Mission Week

Several years ago, we took a look at the expensive, elaborate mission trips that we were taking with youth to other states. We felt that the positives of youth mission trips -- ties that the youth formed with each other and the adult leaders, learning about Christian service -- were goals that could be achieved while working locally. And the thousands of dollars that would have been spent on group travel could be better invested helping people in our own community.

Middle and High School youth gather the first week of August each year to participate in Mission Week. Youth stay at the church and help repair, clean and paint homes in the Pottstown community. They have a chance for service at the Cluster Outreach Center and various other local charities. The program is free to all youth who want to participate.

Youth who participate in Mission Week earn about 30 service hours, which can be used for senior service projects or other community service goals.

Benevolences

Through dedicated funds and gifts of our members, Trinity supports nonprofit organizations in our community.  Trinity supports special causes through the offerings we received. These concerns include:

  • Special UCC Offerings: We are a "5 for 5 Congregation.” Being 5 for 5 means providing support to all of the wider (UCC) Church’s five annual special offerings: Our Church’s Wider Mission and the Special Mission Offerings: One Great Hour of Sharing, Strengthen The Church, Neighbors In Need and The Christmas Fund.
